I show now some applications. First one I show the case of subsidence
of Venice, which is due for having water pumping from the underlying aquifers.
Venice is actually sinking not only due to pumping, but for three factors.
One is eustatic rising of the mean sea level, which is due to the melting
of the Polar glaciers.
The second one is land sinking due to natural consolidation of the fine-grained
deposits of the substratum.
The third one, which we will model, is the man-induced subsidence due
to ground water withdrawal.
