For more than four decades Arsenal Research take a leading role in promoting the development and application of isotope-hydrology. Hundreds of projects were carried out in Austria and abroad to introduce and to integrate isotope techniques in national and regional water sources projects. To understand the results, I just remind you on few facts of this discipline.
Isotope-hydrology includes both the use of artificial radio isotopes and of naturally appearing stable and radioactive isotopes. In our project the environmental isotopes Tritium, Deuterium and O-18 were analysed.
Environmental isotopes are stable and radioactive isotopes, which occur in the environment in low but varying concentrations with respect to the most abundant isotope of the corresponding chemical element.
