This is so far omnidirectional viewing and I have just listed the various approaches that we are discussing under this topic.
Another direction is large depth of field, in which you want to be able to image in clarity all different depths, not just only the front direction, but all the front depth also. Typically you can have in a regular camera either the background in focus or the foreground in focus, like here.
But you would like ideally to see all things in focus. What we would want to do is to take use a regular cameras for example and get an image like this, an image like this and perhaps many other images, in which different parts of the scene are in focus and then collect, combine them into one where everything is in focus.
This is the goal of large depth of field imaging.
