Why do we need a software radio? Why do we need such a technology? If I am a subscriber, I would like to have it, because it gives me the facility to roam around without boundary. Suppose I go to the United States of America using a GSM and having the software radio configurability in it, there I will download the software to my handy and I start operation. It will provide increased specialised and choice services. If you are a mobile operator, then every day you could have newer services. Now, today, if have newer services, it consists of both hardware and software, and the user has to take it, introduce it in his system, and so on, but then, if everything is software, then what you need is just download that particular software, of course at a price, and you could have that particular additional feature. If you do that, then the mobile operator, of course at a price, and you could have that particular additional feature. If you do that, then the mobile operator will be in the position to retain the customer, because he just keeps on getting or providing the customer the services which are evaluated services.
