On top of it, if you are a big player, a company like Motorola, you develop your own standard, that becomes de facto a standard, or Ericson or Qualcom, also lot of research goes on in universities, and these follow this or that set of parameters and protocols for accomplishing a certain task. The problem I would like again to repose is the problem of interoperability between one system and another system.
