- Simplification of the network as one can develop an integrated infrastructure

- E-commerce (now V-commerce): in traditional e-commerce, the customer
can obtain the information from the supplier and place an order. The
customer can talk to the supplier's representative by making a normal
telephone call. Now voice enabled e-commerce or V-commerce is catching
up wherein a customer can make a voice call through the voice over
IP infrastructure and interact with the supplier.
- Integration with unified messaging: this service is catching up
very fast.
- For example, email stored in the mailbox of the corporate server
can be accessed from one's telephone at his/her home. The email will
be converted to speech form using a text to speech converter and passed
to the telephone. Similarly, fax message can be converted to email
form etc.
