The firewire can be used in home segment. The PC can be connected to printer, VCR, CD player, digital camera etc. It supports true plug and play, i.e., hot insertion is possible. Each node is specified by 6-bit address and hence a maximum of 63 devices can be connected. 1023 devices can be supported on multiple buses and hence corporate network can use this standard. The devices cannot be connected in loops and the maximum distance is 4.5 meters.
