In the literature only few papers have been written dealing with this problem. Frederic in 1986 wrote a paper on the future of the railway vehicle, in which he stated that future vehicles should have only to axles and should be shorter with respect to the previous one. Panagin also wrote a contribution on this theme, referring to wheel-set with independent rotating wheels.
